At my Spanish cooking class yesterday, we tasted two meatless sausage products to decide which was best to top my Spanish Garbanzo Stew. We tasted Trader Joe’s Soy Chorizo against Field Roast Mexican Chipotle Sausage, and Field Roast won hands down. Everyone loved its meaty texture and thought that it’s flavor was very, very close to “real” sausage. People liked the Soy Chorizo, but didn’t “love it.” On the other hand, every single person loved the Field Roast sausage.
I still like Trader Joe’s Soy Chorizo for people who are gluten intolerant and there are several recipes in my book where I think it makes total sense to use this product. However, based on my students’ reaction this past Saturday, we will l focus more on my new recipes on the Field Roast Chipotle Sausage. Happy cooking!
